For over 20+ years she has also worked with children and young people as a performing arts teaching artist. Kerry values play for all ages and weaves the magic of curiousity, immagination and joy into each and every session..
Kerry works with children in Yoga Playshops to help them build confidence and self esteem, explore social issues and ideas important to them, support healthy movement and unleash creativity in a safe and supportive environment.
Children and young people are usually naturally better at play however with an increasing sedentary lifestyle, the impact a global pandemic has had on us all and increasing rates of stress, anxiety and uncertainty for children and young people, Kerry started to notice a need even greater than play based connection.
This is where yoga playshops come in - combining palyful drama based games and storytelling with the tools of yoga. Not only do we need to do all that we can to encourage our kids to remember how to play, we also need to teach them skills to manage the biopsychosocial (biological, psychological, social) stressors of our modern day world. In this way, the marrying up of drama inspired play and yoga just makes sense.
Children are able to explore tools and resources rooted in the practice of yoga, breathing techniques, self calming practices, develop focus, improve physical movement ability all in a playful and non-confrontational way.
Kerry is also a Mumma to four fabulous (grown up) children 4 little grand babies and understands how valuable the tools of yoga can be for children, young people and parents alike! Kerry holds a Working With Children Check and Senior First Aid Certification.
