About Glimmer Yoga + Yoga Therapy founder, Kerry Shaw
Hello, I’m Kerry, yoga teacher, yoga therapist and the founder of Glimmer Yoga + Yoga Therapy.
It is so nice to have you here.
Yoga has been a part of my life since before I can remember, my first yoga teacher was my mum, I would copy her on our lounge room floor and then stare endlessly at the beautiful images of yoga practitioners in the single yoga book we had in our house. She has always been my number one yoga teacher off the mat too - showing me through her practice, the power and joy of yoga and how it can support us in all of life.
I do not remember a life without yoga. It has always been there, quietly supporting and guiding me even in the most challenging and heartbreaking moments that life can bring.
After vowing that my yoga practice would always just be ‘a me time’ thing and that I would never teach; venturing down pathways of performing arts, events management, psychology and mental health, community engagement and communications…here I am, finally walking this path.
Now practicing as a yoga therapist, teaching yoga, embedding the practical skills and knowledge from all iterations of my life and finding so much joy in sharing my love for this practice with you.
With a dodgy spine, a body that has endured the wonderful joy (and intensity) of bringing four babies into this world, an insatiable need to DO and LEARN ALL THE THINGS, life can sometimes get very hustle centred; for me, the practices within the ancient art and science of yoga are the most powerful tools I have in my toolkit, and I adore continuing to learn and share my learnings with you.
As science catches up and we learn more and more about the role of fascia in movement, nervous system health and overall wellbeing, it is an exciting time to be on this journey with you.
All Glimmer Yoga offerings; courses, workshops and classes, centre around helping you to rediscover how deep rest and playful curiosity can help you to understand and nourish your nervous system, taking you out of chronic stress, chronic pain and discomfort so that you can find sustainable heath and wellbeing.
It is an honour and a pleasure to walk this path with you.
Kerry x.
My early yoga practice! This is me (age 8) playing with yoga shapes on a log… and yes, I do still practice yoga in the tress and on logs ;)
