FAQs

Is Glimmer Yoga space only for people with chronic pain, high stress or injuries?

1

Not at all. While yoga therapy and therapeutic practices are central to Glimmer Yoga offerings, this space is for anyone wanting to move with more awareness, build sustainable strength, support mobility, and care for their nervous system.

Classes are created with therapeutic intention. These therapeutic classes are designed with specific intentions such as supporting mobility, strength, preventing or recovering from injury, pain management, healthy ageing, mindfulness or nervous system regulation. Every class is taught with a high degree of adaptability.

All classes are grounded in yoga philosophy, so whether you’re managing chronic pain, stress, looking for ways to prevent or recover from injury or simply looking for ways to support your health long term, there is something for you here.

Is this yoga therapy or regular yoga classes

2

It’s both, offered distinctly and with care.

The space will host a timetable of regular small group yoga classes curated through a therapeutic lens, one-to-one yoga therapy appointments, small group yoga therapy for those wishing to continue yoga therapy in a clinical group format and workshops and events. Each offering is clearly defined so you can choose what best supports you and your unique health and wellbeing goals.

What is the difference between yoga therapy and general yoga classes?

3

Yoga therapy is a personalised, therapeutic approach that adapts yoga practices to support individual needs and health goals.

General yoga classes offer a shared, group based experience designed to be broadly accessible. Both play valuable roles, depending on what support you’re seeking at a given time.

Glimmer Yoga also offers small yoga therapy groups offered as 6 week blocks, for those transitioning out of yoga therapy, available after completing an initial assessment and integration yoga therapy package.

See our class and appointment types and membership and package options to find out more.

How is this space different from a typical yoga studio?

4

The emphasis at Glimmer Yoga is on nervous system safety, therapeutic intent, and long term wellbeing. This means that practices are shaped around how yoga can support daily life, recovery, and ageing well, rather than achieving particular shapes, alignment or sequences.

Yoga therapy is offered as one to one appointments and small group yoga therapy but your journey doesn’t end there, you can transition into classes at anytime armed with the knowledge and understanding you gained through yoga therapy or transition to yoga therapy from the regular classes if you are wanting a more personalised approach.

We aim to provide a supportive environment no matter how or how often you practice. See our class and appointment types and membership and package options to find out more.

Should Glimmer Yoga offerings not suit your needs, simply let us know and we would be happy to recommend alternative studios and spaces in your area.

Will the regular timetable of classes be gentle or physically challenging?

5

Both, and neither in the way you might expect.

Practices are designed to be adaptable, offering options for rest, strength, and challenge based on your body on the day. The focus is on building capacity over time, not pushing or hustling in your practice. We value joy and rest and strongly believe in inviting curiosity and exploration into your time on the mat.

Do I need prior yoga experience to attend?

6

No experience is needed.

Classes and sessions are designed to be accessible to beginners while still offering depth for those who’ve practiced for years. You’ll be guided to work at a pace and intensity that feels appropriate for you.

Is the space accessible and inclusive?

7

Glimmer Yoga is guided by the intention that yoga is for every body.

Our intention is that you feel safe here.

People of all cultures and backgrounds, identities and bodies are warmly welcome here, including LGBTQIA+ community members, people living with disability, neurodivergent individuals, and people with lived experience of mental health challenges.

Classes are small and taught in a supportive, choice based way so that practices can be adapted to different bodies, needs and levels of experience.

The studio itself is located upstairs and accessible by stairs only. If stair access is a barrier, yoga therapy sessions or tailored classes can be arranged at alternative locations on request.

Senior and concession pricing is available to help make sessions more accessible.

If you have specific access needs or sensory considerations, you’re always welcome to reach out so we can explore the best way to support your participation.

Do I need to bring my own mat and props?

8

No, whether you are coming for yoga theory or a regular yoga class everything you need is provided at no extra cost. If you prefer, you can choose to bring your own mat and props.

How do I sign up, do you have membership options or class pass packages?

9

Yes, just like our offerings we have plenty of options for you to access yoga therapy, clinical yoga group sessions or our therapeutic/regular class timetable.

Will online yoga therapy still be available??

10

Yes, absolutely. Online yoga therapy sessions will be able to be booked the same way that they have always been. Currently, only one to one yoga therapy sessions are available however we will be building a library of online classes (now that we have a space to film) as the space evolves.
